Sword in Microsoft Xbox Day.

Posted by: Blindspot1977

The team met up and gathered at the lobby of the building which Microsoft is located in. At 12pm we proceeded to their office's pantry for a quick lunch before the event starts.

The event started off with an intro video by EA, later on follow with a speech delivered by Mr Aaron, Senior Product Manager of EA. He gave us an insight of EA's overview and history. Also revealed is EA's direction for the upcoming years for Asia Pacific regions. They will be focus a lot on online contents as in Asia Pacific regions online contents are extremely popular and occupy a very big piece of the game market.

Next in line was Mr Oo Gin Lee, he was invited to speaks about what he does as a game journalist giving us an insight on how a day for a game journalist is like. He wrote articles for Strait Times and also Digital Life newspaper produced by SPH. In his course of the job he had a lot of chance to review games and write about the latest games happening.

After that, it's time for our guys to deliver their speech. Tetra showed the audience our official CGS promo video. Then he started his delivery touching on what he is currently doing as a professional gamer and what he did to become one eventually. Also he gave advice on how to balance his time and lifestyle so that gaming do not affect his everyday life. Someone threw a question about by being a professional gamer what is his experience on getting support. He mentions that being one had help his mom from being discouraging him from play games to actually strongly supporting him to game now.

The last speaker was StrykerX, as a representative of SOCGA, started off with an insights on what attribute is needed in order to become a professional gamer. He pointed out that Sword had already transcend from being gaming for fun to treating it like a real sport. It's not all fun anymore and there are many sacrifice to be made. A few personal examples of sacrifice are shared in order to give the listeners a clear picture of what he meant. Moving on to then talking about SOCGA, this new local organisation looking at promoting healthy gaming in areas of gaming. Their mission is to encourage proper gaming habits and they are looking forward to working with young talents.

With the ending of StrykerX's delivery, it's time for relax and interactions with the other attendees. The guys are instructed not to play in the game they are representing Sword in. Instead they are swapped around with Tetra on Forza, Squall on Halo3, Randy on Doa4.

End of the day this had been a great chance for them to know more about CGS and the Sword.
